Levi's Walk Across AmericaA true viral, millions of  folks have already seen the Levi’s-sponsored ‘Walk Across America’ stop-motion video. The video took 14 days and 2,770 still shots from a Canon EOS 5D Mark II. To make up for being late to the game, I give you the Making Of as a bonus.

From The Daily Mail. PS: The video’s’ soundtrack is “Home” by the  incredible Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros, who clocked in at #2 on my favorite albums of 2009.

Renault Clio Traffic LightThe Cranberries’ “Zombie” has never been used to greater comedic effect.

Excellent work by Publicis Frankfurt.

HP kills a tree and dumps a 100 gallons of ink in their new viral effort. The sequel to the original HP video created by talented duo Tom Wrigglesworth and Matt Robinson, the new one is officially commissioned by HP this time. I have to agree with the commenters on Creative Review; the new one reeks of corporate influence and lacks the magic of the original.

It says this aired during the Super Bowl, but I must have missed it. What the hell was I doing? It’s another epic piece for Dove, this time by the Paris branch of Ogilvy & Mather in conjunction with The Mill. Watch as a man’s entire life unfolds, from his inception to his final realization of what it means to be comfortable in his own skin. Great art direction, copy, etc. etc.

PS: Please read what it says under the “additional info” section of The Mill’s production notes. Giggle.

It seems like I say this every time DDB Amsterdam does broadcast work for Centraal Beheer, but what the hell, I’ll say it again: Yet another wonderful Centraal Beheer spot.

In case you missed it, watch Centraal Beheer’s Mouse spot from earlier this month.

Amnesty International continues their quest to save those more unfortunate than ourselves, one excellent ad at a time. The television commercial gets bonus points for using Korobeiniki in the soundtrack – otherwise known to us non-Russians as “the Tetris song”.

iceland-inspired-by-icelandLove this commercial. Where the Hell Is Matt comparisons not withstanding; it’s beautifully shot and full of buoyant energy, and it has a great soundtrack by Emiliana Torrini (an Icelandic artist of course). But will I ever visit Iceland? Heck no! People have to dance 24/7 just so they don’t freeze to death!

Kia liked the hamsters from David & Goliath’s Soul launch commercial so much, they’re bringing them back. Truth be told, rap spoofs are one of most tired, idiotic storytelling mechanisms in existence. But somehow, with hamsters riding around in toasters and laundry machines, this works for me. dulux-lets-colour-project2Scooped from glossy: A fantastic 2:00 short film for Euro RSCG’s Let’s Colour Project. The spot features 120 different colours, a great soundtrack with Jonsi’s Go Do, and 650 hardworking people from Brazil, France, India, and London. It’s the best combination of advertising and public service I’ve seen this year.

Oh, and it’s directed by Adam Berg, the man behind one of the greatest spots in history, Philips Carousel. If you’ve never seen it, please leave this blog and never come back. But before you do, watch it at the bottom of this post.

das-handwerkThis is what advertising should be. A big-budget long-form commercial for Das Handwerk (an organization that promotes German craftsmanship), Craft is rousing, funny, clever and insightful, and set to the perfect whimsical musical accompaniment. The rough copy translation: “What is life without craftsmanship?”

Mark it down for a Clio/Gold Lion/Gold Pencil, etc. By Scholz & Friends, Berlin.
